We’re all so frightened by time, the way it moves on and the way things disappear. That’s why we’re photographers. We’re preservationists by nature. We take pictures to stop time, to commit moments to eternity. Human nature made tangible.

I’m Jess, the face behind the lens here at Stories with Soul Photography. I am first and foremost a 37 year old mama raising six (yep, seriously haha!) wild little souls in our home by the ocean in Yanchep, WA.

I have always been one to immerse myself in journalling, savouring even the smallest moments, as I know all too well just how fleeting life can be. Amidst the depths of grief, a passion was born. After loosing my dad to brain cancer as a young woman, my world was shattered, but it was the absence of tangible memories that hit the hardest. No photographs existed to evoke the warmth of his smile or the tenderness of his embrace. Born from loss and fueled by love, with each click of my camera I freeze moments in time, encapsulating the love, joy and connections that make life truly extraordinary.

I would describe my photography style as documentary. I work best when I am capturing REAL, intimate, unscripted and HONEST moments as they flow throughout whatever it is I am documenting. While I can absolutely orchestrate a good pose or ten, I love the authenticity of what is captured between families and friends when they are moments caught naturally when people are most comfortable! SURELY its not just me who turns into a total goober when in front of the camera forced to smile?! I am allllll about the little details, the warm hugs, the belly laughs and the sincere and emotion filled moments exchanged as apposed to heavy directing. I want to tell your story as it naturally and genuinely unfolded, not how I molded it to be.

From the miraculous journey of birth to the tender moments shared within families and everything in between, I’ve dedicated myself to capturing the purest and most precious moments in life.
